The Fanatics are a secluded group of Nevadeans who inhabit the Mining Sector of Nexus City, living deep below the surface. The Fanatics are former asylum patients who were rounded up by Dr. Crackpot and subsequently indoctrinated into his cult. Their ideology revolves around the concept of buoyancy and the worship of Zeds. The Fanatics believe that Zeds are the vessels of which immortality can be achieved, "floating" as the rest of Nevada sinks.
Background
The Fanatics inhabit the Mining Sector alongside Zeds, neither of which exhibit hostile tendencies towards one another. It is unclear why this is the case, but considering that Dr. Crackpot was responsible for "Plan Zed", he may know more about Zeds than anyone else, and thus could adequately pass his knowledge down to his followers. Unlike the Zeds, the Fanatics are more fearful and wary of the "The Punished Ones".
The group is encountered by Sanford and Deimos during their journey through the Mining Sector during the stages Flood Control and Chasms. Fanatics can be found outside of the Mining Sector after the main story is completed in different parts of the map.
Units
Fanatic
Fanatics compose the majority of the cult and are the lowest ranked members of them. They wear duck-like masks, with paint or tattoos around their head, and bandit rags with boards on their back. They usually attack with bladed melee weapons or throwables, and can dodge away from enemies.
Prophet
Skilled and higher ranking Fanatics, Prophets are Tac-Bar possessing enemies who can throw hooks to pull enemies at them much like Sanford. They wear Fanatic masks with pink skulls painted on the front, with white and pink hooded robes.
Graveseeker Bandit
Graveseeker Bandits are G03LMs who used to be part of the Sector's mining force [citation needed]. They're usually armed with shovels and can charge up attacks, as well as dig underground in order to close the distance with opponents by digging up from below.

- The Crackpot Fanatics are also part of the Zeds faction, however, a separate article has been created about them.
