The Tower Guard are high tier melee specialist enemies that debuted in MADNESS: Project Nexus. They are primarily encountered in the Story Campagin stages Base Jumping and Shakedown. The Tower Guards are a group of G03LMs that serve as security for the Nexus Science Tower (and other Nexus Core facilities). Dressed up and acting as medieval knights however are just LARPing. They are larger than normal G03LMs, have faster turning speeds, and cannot be ragdolled by any means. Wielding large shields in their off hand with the Nexus Core logo on it to block incoming attacks. Thanks to their training they are more dangerous than most G03LMs. With three variants of the Tower Guards as red, blue, and yellow. There is only one blue and yellow Tower Guard, while the red Tower Guards are the most common and seen. In the end, during the credits, it was shown that the Guardians of the Tower, inexplicably survived, sitting in the dining room and drinking alcoholic beverages.

Strategy

Tower Guards are very tricky and deadly foes to fight if one doesn't pay attention. They are capable of swinging their weapon of choice in a rapid succession, moving forwards as they do. Thanks to their massive shields they wield in their other hand, they can block most forms of attacks that come their way and negate damage. Sometimes a Tower Guard will perform a powerful (but slow) shield bash on their opponents if too close for too long.

If a target of theirs runs away from them, the Tower Guard is capable of leaping a great distance to catch up to them. Sometimes they will charge at their foe, getting their shield ready, then running at their opponent. When they catch up to their opponent they will perform a running shield bash. When running however they struggle to turn and change direction  making it easy to dodge. The red and blue Tower Guards are capable of charging up a powerful attack, where they take their weapon and spin a full 360° moving rapidly as they do. While the yellow Tower Guard has a unique charge up where he slightly jumps into the air, then thrusting the morning star flails as he moves forward.

Thanks to their bullet proof armor, they are invulnerable to many attacks. Which means their helmets and masks must be removed to deal damage. Hit the Tower Guard 5 times to put them into their tantrum, however instead of a normal tantrum. The Tower Guard will swing their weapon four times against the ground in a frenzy moving straight forward. They will not be put into a stationary area but still in a confused state, allowing for their helmet to be removed. This can prove difficult due to how far their tantrum can take them, and they have fast turning speeds. If one jumps onto their backs three times, it will be able to snap the Tower Guards neck. However Tower Guards can't be kicked over via a bicycle kick, instead will throw opponents over their shoulder and onto the ground.

All three Tower Guard variants prefer different weapons that they use. The red variant uses a large sized odachi named the Megadachi, the blue variant uses a Dragonslayer sword, and the yellow variant uses a morning star (mace attached to a chain).

Personality

As real knights would, they speak in old English and challenge enemies instead of just trying to kill them. They will compliment your hits if you damage them. The yellow variant even admits defeat and says you bested him upon his death.

The Blackguard

TowerGuard3 Black

The Blackguard is the leader of the Tower Guards and the third of the group the player meets who wears black armor with red stripes. He wields a spiked shield and a Dragonslayer. When his body armor is broken, he has a really skinny build and wears a ballistic G03LM-sized ski mask.

Red Tower Guard

Red Tower Guard new render

Red Tower Guard are the most common members of the Tower Guards that the player faces, usually armed with broadswords or Megadachis and shields. The first time they appear is in the stage Base Jumping, standing guard during the Blackguard battle. The only time you fight a Red Tower Guard is during the stage Shakedown. They also appear in Climb! if the player does not escape after the bridge is activated in the third last section flooding the platform. They also make an appearance in Arena Mode, serving as a boss enemy in the endless waves of Nexus Core Facility.

Blue Tower Guard

TowerGuard1 Blue

The Blue Tower Guard is the first Tower Guard the protagonists meet, who carries a Dragonslayer (a nodachi in The Playground) and a shield. He bursts through a wall to confront Hank, Sanford, and Deimos, claiming that he himself defends the "Tower of Science and Alchemy" (referring to the Science Tower).

Yellow Tower Guard

TowerGuard2 Yellow

The Yellow Tower Guard is the second Tower Guard you'll meet. He wields a flail and a shield. He also possesses a yellow eyepiece similar to that of an A.T.P. Soldat, although it can be removed if done by characters with similar size, and even his blood color is yellow instead of red, suggesting that he was subject to the A.T.P..
